It seemed like such a nice day to photograph those skimmer babies, now beginning to make a less timid appearance. But things turned grim pretty quickly...

The babies are so different from their black and white parents!

Of course, they targeted me immediately. So I left. But I got some photos first!
Meanwhile, back at the picnic tables...

We made it across the parking lot to the car just before the rain started. But I wonder what those little birds do in the rain...sometimes the beach floods.
