Wow, that is a cool picture! Just saw some mourning doves in our yard today and wished I had a decent camera! :)

We're such beginners over here. This summer I've made a point of eating on our screened porch for many meals. The boys and I are doing breakfast quite frequently and trying to id bird calls. The mourning dove is the one we learned last week, so thanks for this picture. I love what your camera can do. I shall not covet.

BTW, I really enjoyed your talks and talking with you at FCL. What edition of Fabre's Insects did you recommend, because of the newer translation?

Jenn, the book with the newer translation is not just his insect book, but it is a collection of his writings, with lovely illustrations. It is called The Passionate Observer. I am sure there are many used copies available at next to nothing.
